The Ministry at Franklin Square grew out of a group of Christians in Savannah who witnessed a need from the inside of a restaurant in City Market while having a Men’s Fellowship Breakfast. God impressed upon their hearts the sense of loneliness that the homeless men and women must feel. Beginning the following week, the group met in the square instead of the restaurant and provided coffee and doughnuts, but more importantly, the love of Jesus Christ.
This ministry has since provided coats, reading glasses, Bibles, food, and most importantly friendship. What is offered is much more than food. Now 1-1/2 years later, bonds have been formed as the homeless men and women who gather in Franklin Square, have found friendship through those who continue to come witness to them, hear their stories and bring them food and other necessary supplies.
Members of Islands Christian Church through association with Pastor Keith Niager, formerly of Rivers Community Church, are a part of this Ministry. We bring items such as bottled water, breakfast foods, orange juice, milk, muffins, crackers, boiled eggs and fruit. Everyone is welcome - 8:30 AM Saturdays - check the bulletin for dates.
